"Kikuyu" by Hannah G. (9)

My name is Hannah. I live in Tumaini. I am in std three. I am nine years old. I love Tumaini because I eat. We are family one day I will come there in America when God wants. I will write read and work hard. I will be a doctor when I come big. I like Science better in my class. We have 55 pupils, 4 are in Tumaini. Tomorrow I will woke up and then I go to school. My teacher is called Mrs. Mutui. Please I would like to tell you some kikuyu

Pencil—kalamu
Ball—mphira
Girl-muritu
Boy—kahii
Table—metha
Dog—ngui
Cat-nyau

Please teach them that kikuyu may god bless you so much.

Thanks for teaching me some Kikuyu. I will have to practice it. I am so glad you like science so much. It is my favorite subject too. Keep working hard at school. I miss hanging out with you at Tumaini. Tell everybody I say hello!

Hi Hannah!

Thank you for your Kikuyu lesson! I thought you might want to know that the word for pencil (kalamu) is the same in my language, which is spoken in a country far away from you - in India. The language is Telugu from South India.

Continue to enjoy science! It is my favourite subject too.
